The offence of the 1-0 Klipper win would come from a Braeden Adamyk goal early in the second period.

The amazing hockey continued Saturday night with a game that could not have been scripted to be more exciting. The Klippers continued strong play with special teams contributing two powerplay goals, putting Kindersley up 2 goals going into the 3rd period. The Hounds however would battle to tie the game at 3 a piece with only 21 seconds left in the game, as Blayne Stevenson would score on the powerplay with the extra attacker. Overtime looked like a sure thing until Kevin Clark burst out of his own end taking the puck to NotreDames net with less then ten seconds remaining in the game, Sanfred King hot on his trail would follow up on the rebound and score with only 0.5 seconds left on the clock giving the Klippers not only a 2 game lead going back home but one of the most exciting finishes I have ever witnessed at any venue.

The next game for the Klippers is Tuesday and Wednesday night from Eston, where the Klippers regular season record stands at 8-0 and 1; make sure and come out to support the Klippers on their path to the Credit Union Cup, with game time at 7:30.

Klippers - Hounds

Klippers now with some time off before we lace up for what should be an amazing series between Kindersley and NotreDame.

During the regular season these two teams split the series at 3 games a piece, with NotreDame finishing the regular season with a record of 32-20-2-4 giving them 70 points and a 2nd place finish in the Sherwood, while the Klippers finished just two points behind in 3rd place with a record of 31-21-3-3. On paper these two teams are almost a mirror image of each other finishing in the stats how they did on the season usually one behind the other. The only big difference that comes up is the shots for and against as NotreDame is the lowest in both categories but finished the season with just as many goals as the Klippers with 178. Even the power rankings have the two side by side with the Klippers in 5th and the Hounds in 6th.

But the big difference maybe how the teams finished the year. The hounds struggled in the last stretch sporting a record of 2-6-1-0 through the month of February, starting the month with a string of losses continuing over from January which totalled 8 straight losses. While the Klippers finished the last month with a record of 6-5, carrying a 5 game winning streak over from January. Although the season series is split between the teams the Klippers have won the last two match ups, with the Hounds last win against the Klippers coming on January 22nd, the weekend before NotreDame would start their 8 game losing streak. Both teams did take a loss in their last match ups and will be eager to come out on all cylinders as the race for the Credit Union Cup starts. All I can say is it will be a great series, with my prediction being the Klippers in 6.

Klippers - Hounds Schedule

Game #1 Friday March 5th – 7:30 pm @ Notre Dame
Game #2 Saturday March 6th – 7:00 pm @ Notre Dame
Game #3 Tuesday March 9th – 7:30 pm @ Eston
Game #4 Wednesday March 10th – 7:30 pm @ Eston
Game #5 Friday March 12th – 7:30 pm @ Notre Dame (if necessary)
Game #6 Sunday March 14th – 7:30 pm @ Eston (if necessary)
Game #7 Tuesday March 16th – 7:30 pm @ Notre Dame (if necessary)

Eston Bound

After that horrible fire last Friday to the West Central Events Centre the Jr. Klippers are now looking ahead to Eston this weekend. The Klippers will lace up against the Yorkton Terriers for January 16th and 17ths games at the Eston Complex with the puck dropping at 7 o'clock. It's great to see the community over coming the blaze, and hopefully everyone can make the drive out to Eston to show the team our support. There will also be a couple fan buses going down each day from the Kindersley mall parking lot at 6 o'clock with donations being gratefully accepted. In other Klippers news Andrew Dommett has now been named to the SJHL Allstar roster, as an injury replacement. I still don't see how he wasn't on the initial roster; like really how do you side step the leagues number one scorer?!? Dommett will join 4 other Klippers on the Allstar roster as Jordan Braid, Johny Calkins, Steven Turner, and Kurt Leedahl will all be heading to Lanigan Thursday for the festivities. Before any of that gets underway though the team will be in a road hockey match up today as part of that push to become CBC's Hockeyville 2010. If you still have yet to submit a story for Hockeyville you can do so at cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hockeyville.

Klippers Start the New Year Strong

Well we are finally back in the rink after what I think was far to long of a break. The team looked sharp on their first night back hosting the North Stars back on Sunday night putting on a clinic in the shot total on their way to a 3 to 1 win. As for today it is a great day in hockey as the Team Canada looks to take their 6th straight gold medal in a New Years Eve rematch versus the States; as well the SJHL All-Star roster has now been named with a total of 4 Klippers cracking the squad. Kindersley placed defensemen Kurt Leedahl and Steven Turner on the team, along with forwards Jordan Braid and Johnny Calkins.

Klippers Take Three Straight

With the Christmas break just around the corner the race to establish top three dominance in the conference is really heating up. The Klippers were in action last night in Humboldt where they were able to take a big 2 points on the road increasing their winning streak to 3 games while expanding their lead for 3rd in the Sherwood to 4 points ahead of the Yorkton Terriers, while closing the gap between them and the 2nd place Notre Dame Hounds to only a single point.

Last nights game was the last road game of the year for the Klippers and what away to close up as it was a tremendous goal tending battle between Kirk Crosswell of the Bronco's and your very own Josh Thorimbert. The game would need extra time to solve the one to one deadlock before Jesse Mysiorek would score for the Klippers in the 7th round of the shoot out to take the victory. The next games for the Klippers will now be Friday and Saturday as they host the Flin Flon Bombers at the West Central Events Centre, both games getting underway at 7 o'clock; with Saturdays game having the draw for the Klippers Truck Lotto's grand prize.

Klippers Snap Losing Streak

After being away from the West Central Events Centre for 6 straight games the Klippers were able to end a 4 game losing streak in LaRonge Wednesday night.

With switched up combo's up front the Klippers would hit the ice hungry for a win to take sole position of third place in the Sherwood conference. And what a game it was, after going down two nothing after one period of play the Klippers would come out firing in the second with Jordan Braid netting the first goal just over 2 minutes into the period. Then came the rough stuff as Bertow would drop the gloves against Rogochewsky, which would even further swing momentum in the Klippers favour. The next goal would come from a tremendous slap shot from the point as Kurt Leedahl would tie it up on the power play, then 3 minutes later it would be Andrew Dommett putting the Klippers up 3 to 2, and once again the gloves would be dropped at centre ice as Riley Down took on Michael Jordan to help close up an exciting period of play. Then mid way through the 3rd Jordon Hoffman would fire one into the back of the net, which would go on to be the game winner as Kindersley would take it 4 to 3.
The win would push the Klippers record to 12 and 9, while moving them into second place in the Sherwood. They will be looking to continue right were they left off when Nipawin comes to town for Friday the 13th in the first match up of the season between these two squads. Although the Hawks are sitting at the bottom in their conference and power rankings they have put an impressive drive together this month winning all three games, one against Melville and the other two coming against the Northstars who delivered Kindersley a loss last week; so we should be in for a great match up. Then Saturday night we will be at home again looking for our first win against the LaRonge Ice Wolves.

First Klippers Blog

Well here it is folks, my first attempt at the whole "blogging" thing; a little late, but better late then never.

We had some great hockey games this week, coming off of two losses at home we went out on to the road sitting at 500 hockey with a record of 7 and 7, but that all changed with 3 big wins. It all started off in Humboldt Tuesday night as we took a 2 to 1 victory, then had another close one in Melville Friday night taking that one 2 to 1. Then last night we were in Yorkton to face the Terriers, who were riding a 3 game winning streak only allowing one goal in those match ups, but they had yet to face our offense. We started off with a quick start as Dommett put us on the board, but Yorkton would come back mid way through the period scoring on the power play, and after one period it was all tied at 1 with Yorkton doubling us in shots 16 to 8. Then came the second and it was all Klippers hockey as we evened up the shots and took a two goal lead with Duzan and Calkins both finding the back of the net. Going into the third the Klippers would continue their dominance as Taylor Duzan and Andrew Dommett would both score their second goals of the night, Yorkton would add one more before, Jordon Hoffman would put the icing on the cake giving the Klippers the 6 to 2 win. With the victory our record now sits at 10 and 7 and we are now tied for second in the Sherwood, with sights set at getting to the number one spot. Next game for the Klippers will be Tuesday night when we host the Broncos, and then the next broadcast will be Friday night from Humboldt. Can't wait to see if we can keep this streak going!!!

Also I would like to add a big thank you to Mavis Hoffman for helping me, with starting up this blog...
